Animation

Learn to make art that moves! In this class, campers will learn to use a variety of techniques to make visually interesting animated art. We will make animation projects including flipbooks, thaumatropes, and zoetropes that are all early forms of animation. We will then move on to create gifs and longer projects using iStopmotion, and a variety of other iPad apps. Campers will edit their pieces and add sound. Using modeling clay, whiteboards, found objects, and art materials, students will create characters, stories, and sets to make inventive, one-of-a-kind animation. No prior experience necessary. All equipment provided.

Makers Studio - Woodshop

Woodworking with tools can be extremely creative and satisfying. This hands-on class will introduce you to a variety of tools needed to build with wood: clamps, hand saws, electric drills, hammers, chisels, and more. This class is a great start for folks with little or no woodworking experience. We will practice woodworking skills by working on small group projects around a theme (e.g., furniture, carnival games, etc.) and a large group project that will culminate in a miniature golf course. Prior to working with tools, we will have an orientation on woodworking safety. Registration covers the cost of materials.
